First Priory Retreat

The first retreat held under the auspices of Notre Priory since its foundation was concluded today. 36 men were present for the event. A 3 day women’s retreat will start on Monday.

Northern Isle, Here We Come!

Father Prior, accompanied by three of the novices, left Tasmania yesterday for the “northern isle” to hold the community’s first retreat mission since its foundation. They are currently at Hartzer Park Retreat Centre in Burradoo where they have a group of nearly 40 men making the Spiritual Exericises.

The Wonderful Lady Of Cana

Here at Notre Dame Priory we celebrated yesterday our first patronal feast as a community. As you may know, there is no existing feast of Our Lady of Cana in the Roman Liturgy, even though the mystery is commemorated today, the Second Sunday after Epiphany. We have, with provisional permission from the  Archbishop of Hobart, put […]

Going Out And Going In

It’s been too long since my last blog. My excuse (a good one of course!) is that internet access in our new priory is quite unstable. It works, it doesn’t work… same for the phone… So be it, it’s a very small way of taking part in the Lord’s poverty. I wanted to write something […]

Monks And Families

The Wise And The Brave

Wise men, Magi as they are called, come from the East in search of the great King, the one who had been announced as the Saviour, the very one who, from the beginning was promised as the woman’s seed and who would crush the head of the serpent. The Wise Men come from a pagan […]

Early Summer Outing

On the feast of the Holy Innocents, our community went on its quarterly outing. This time, we went north to pay a visit to our sisters at the Carmel of Launceston. It was a lovely time together in the large parlor during which the younger brothers experienced for the first time the joyful charm of […]

And Here We Are

Well, things are finally starting to look a bit more “normal” in our new priory, Bethlehem. It’s been a week since our official move. In that time, the solemn celebration of Christmas being excepted (see following post), our efforts have gone into making the new setting as close as possible to what a monastery should […]

First Christmas In Colebrook

One of the big advantages of the move to Rhyndaston is Colebrook church. Here are a couple shots of our Christmas Matins and midnight Mass.
